John Dale Kirkland, 57 of Monticello, passed away at 1:15 PM, Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Kirby Hospital in Monticello.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Monticello Township Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites. Visitation will be 6:00-8:30 PM, Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello with a Masonic Service at 8:30 PM. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.
John was born June 6, 1951 in Champaign the son of Dale and Elva (Johnson) Kirkland.
Surviving are his daughters: Megan, Tory, and Jenny, twin sister: Janice Shiffer of Monticello, brother: Herb Shewmaker of Bement, and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the De Land Masonic Lodge and the De Land American Legion Post.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
