John Clodfelter Obituary
John J. Clodfelter, 83, of Monticello, passed away at 5:55 PM, Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Bauler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Bement Township Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.
John was born June 16, 1926 in Bement the son of John J. and Jessie M. (Carmen) Clodfelter. He married Lois L. Hord on August 5, 1949 in Bement.
Surviving is his wife; Lois Clodfelter of Monticello, daughters; Carol (Jeff) Brisard of Clinton, IL and Janet (Kent) Rebman of Brownsburg, IN, son; Robert Clodfelter of Castle Rock, CO, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 twin brother (James Carmen Clodfelter), and 3 sisters (Florence Dobson, Mary Fern Clodfelter, Nita Snearly).
John was a retired maintenance electrician at the University of Illinois. John served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II. He was a member of the Monticello Hamm-Burke American Legion Post #101, Monticello Masonic Lodge #58 AF&AM, and the IBEW #601. John graduated in 1944 from Bement High School. He was an avid Illini fan. He loved and was devoted to his family. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at the Piatt County Nursing Home.
Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home or the Alzheimer's Association.
