Joan Walton

Joan Walton, 94, of Champaign, died at 6:23am on September 10, 2024 at Clark-Lindsey Village in Urbana.  There will be a funeral service at 12:00 on Saturday September 14 at Owens Funeral Home (101 N. Elm St.) in Champaign.  The visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Buckley, IL.  

Joan was born on June 24, 1930 at home in Buckley, a daughter of Joseph and Alta (Goslin) Martin.  She married John Walton in West Virginia on January 12, 1954.  He died in 2011.

Survivors include: Her children, Dan (Peggy) Walton of Savoy, Phillip (Carolyn) Walton of Arlington Heights and Nola (David) Loeffler of Crescent City; grandchildren, Adam (Gina) Walton of Champaign, Eric (Jennifer) Walton of Urbana, Zachary Walton of Arlington Heights, Rob (Ashley) Loeffler of Champaign, Haley Loeffler of Bloomington, Joe Loeffler of Crescent City and 5 great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her husband and 2 brothers.

Joan was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served in many other charitable organizations.  She worked at the Champaign Public Library for many years as Head of Adult Services.
