Elm St.) in Champaign.  The funeral mass will be at 10:00am on Wednesday April 30 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Thomasboro.  Burial will be at St. Elizabeth's Cemetery.

Joan was born on July 13, 1941 in St. Paul, Minnesota, a daughter of Ed and Edna (Muensch) Morran.  She married John T. 'Jack' Hall on July 15, 1961 in Champaign, started a family together and moved to Thomasboro in 1967.  John died on April 4, 1999.

Survivors include: three sons; Tim Hall (Vicki VanBlaricum), John Hall (Carol DeJesus) and Mark Hall (June), sister, Patty Ebeling and several nieces and nephews.

Joan and Jack were always active in their community and were responsible for establishing West Side Park in Thomasboro.  In the 1970's she served the Thomasboro Grade School as a board member, room mother, field trip chaperone, snack bar for basketball games, teacher's assistant and Cub Scout Den Mother.  She was also instrumental in many school programs including the Fall Frolic and Christmas programs.

Joan was a stay-at-home mom, taking pride in her family and 3 boys.  She was always responsible for transporting the neighborhood kids to the Rantoul swimming pool, as the Hall home was a favorite hangout for the whole neighborhood.

Joan was very active at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Thomasboro.  She served as a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and many different committees, including cleaning, funeral dinners, decorating, church laundry, serving as a CCD teacher, church lector, church choir and caring for the elderly.

Joan continued taking care of her community through the 1980's and 1990's by serving the Village of Thomasboro as a Notary Public, Village Treasurer and Village Clerk for more than 20 years.

Joan suffered through her battle with Alzheimer's Disease for the past 15 years and has resided at Eagle's View in Rantoul for the past 3 years.

Additionally, she survived the 'Son of Satan' attack in 2014 and despite having Alzheimer's Disease, was able to distract the attacker who was choking her sister, allowing her to escape.  She was then able to calm the assailant and distract him until the Police arrived.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, brother Edward Morran, sister Kathy Powell and 3 nephews.
