Jerry Peters Obituary
Jerry F. Peters, 78, of Monticello, passed away at 1:15 PM, Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Eischen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery with Mackey-Wright Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
Jerry was born January 16, 1931 in Taylorville the son of Lee Clinton and Faye (Hardin) Peters. He married Ruth Jackson on September 28, 1952 in Springfield.
Surviving is his wife; Ruth Peters of Monticello, children; Jerry F. (Barbara) Peters, Jr. of Lancaster, OH, Terry Peters of Memphis, TN, Lori (Rick) Sebens of Monticello, and Kerry (Mary) Peters of Belvidere, IL, grandchildren; Anne Peters, Katie Sebens, Karie Sebens, Sarah Peters, great grandson; Andrew Peters, brother; Gene Peters of Taylorville, sisters; Phoebe Schwemin of Bass Lake, IN and Sonja Heldebrandt of Nokomis, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and 1 grandson (Andrew Peters).
Jerry retired from Caterpillar as a millwright and carpenter after 31 years. He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church and the Caterpillar Retiree Club. Jerry loved flying, woodworking and gardening.
Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Halcyon Unit or the Monticello United Methodist Church.
