Jean Frye Obituary

The Angels came for Jean Frye while she was being cared for at Covenant Hospital in Urbana on Thursday, December 29th. With Jean at the time were her Daughter Hilary (Bunnie), Son Mark, Daughter-In-Law Candace, and Granddaughter Madelyn Marie.

Jean was a long-time resident of Monticello, as were her Father and Mother Charles Louis and Arlie B. (Webb) Tabor, her Grandfather and Grandmother Robert Ernest and Lenora (Henderson) Webb, and her Parents-In-Law Paul S. and Minnie E. Frye, all of whom preceded her in passing. She was born Dora Jean Tabor in Fairmount, Illinois on April 1st, 1928. Her family then moved to Mansfield and eventually settled in Monticello where Jean met Ralph M. Frye (Bud) while attending high school. Jean was a cheerleader and Bud was a star football player. He joined the Navy immediately after graduating in 1945 during World War II, returning after boot camp for their wedding on December 10th, 1945. The couple first lived in Portsmouth, Virginia and later moved to Eureka where Bud attended college. After graduating, Bud and Jean moved to Racine, Wisconsin with their two children. Bud then relocated to Florida and Jean returned to Monticello where she raised her children as a single parent while working at Kraft Foods in Champaign. Bud preceded Jean in passing by one week, on Thursday, December 22nd in Orlando, Florida.

Jean was also preceded by six of her seven brothers, Charles Louis Tabor, Billy Robert, Curtis Lee, Wesley Webb, Donald Dean and James Ray, as well as her half-brothers Frank and Troy Tabor and her half-sisters Blanche, Edna, and Lucille. Other close relatives who preceded Jean were her Aunts Courtney Belle (Bess) Henderson Webb, Ollie C. (Webb) Leach and Beulah (Webb) Blacker of Monticello, Emily L. (Webb) Bergan of Ogden, Eva Lena (Webb) Case of Chillicothe and Marie (Webb) Clinehens of Tampa, Florida.

Jean is survived by her brother Edwin Dale who raised his family with his wife, Lola (now deceased) in Phoenix, Arizona. Other close relatives who survive Jean are her nephews Richard Tabor (and wife Brenda) of Warrensburg, Missouri, Michael Eugene Tabor (and wife Candy) of Denver, Colorado, Gary Dale Tabor (and wife Terri) of Phoenix, Arizona and George Case, Jr. (and wife Florence) of Kemp, Arizona. She is also survived by close personal friends Madeleine Cawley of Eureka, Linda Werts of Champaign, and Toki Ashton of White Heath, as well as her wonderful caregivers and friends at Asta in Paxton.

Jean most loved her children and her family, dearly enjoyed reading and creating beautiful things with her hands. Throughout her life, she traveled extensively from east to west coast and overseas, visiting her children and family. Jean brought joy and love to those who were fortunate to know her; now shell receive those same blessings for the rest of eternity.

A Memorial service for Jean will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Interment will be held in Monticello Township Cemetery.
