Jane Margo Wierschem, 83, of Champaign passed away July 12, 2024 at Bickford Place surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Jane was born on July 4, 1941, in Waukegan, IL to Raymond and Margretta (Suhren) Cote. She married Kenneth Wierschem on June 2, 1962. She was preceded in death by her husband (Ken), her parents, her son-in-law (Arthur Conlon, Jr.) and grandson-in-law (Matt Wernli.)
Jane attended Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota and Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She worked as a lab technician at Land o’ Lakes Company and later worked as a teacher before devoting her time to raising her children. A life-long animal lover, Jane enjoyed showing horses, dogs, and dairy goats, and raising animals on her and husband Ken’s small farm in Antioch, Illinois. After retirement, Jane and Ken moved to Minocqua, Wisconsin and spent winters in The Villages, Florida. They also enjoyed traveling extensively during their retirement years.
Jane is survived by daughter, Julie Conlon of Rock Hill, South Carolina, son John (Judy) Wierschem of Champaign, Illinois, grandchildren Brandi Wernli, Cody (Reagan) Conlon, Scott (Jordan) Wierschem, Jack Wierschem, Ryan Wierschem, and great grandchildren Jaxon & Emma Wernli and Charleston & Winslow Conlon.
The family would like to thank Bickford of Champaign and Transitions Hospice for providing excellent care of Jane over her final days.
