James L. Smith II

James L. Smith II, 64, of Champaign, passed away at 1:50 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2026, at his residence.

Jim was born on June 13, 1961, in Monticello, IL, the son of James L. and Donna (Strack) Smith.

Jim is survived by his mother, Donna Smith Burke of Monticello; sisters, Kim (Rob) Kutz of Monticello, Tammy (Tim) Bucher of Decatur; significant other, Dianna Wittig; and special friend, Lathan Tillman. He was preceded in death by his father and son Devin Smith.

Jim worked as a welder for Kurland Steel. He enjoyed going on cruises and listening to music.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Monticello Township Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at the East End Tavern at 2:00 p.m.
