James E. Hicks

James Everett Hicks, Sr. 95 of Monticello, passed away at 9:25A.M, Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Kirby Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M, Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery. James was born June 16, 1915 in Gays, Illinois the son of Luther and Minta (Wright ) Hicks. He married Helen M. Barlow February 14, 1943 in White Heath, Illinois she passed away May 3, 1980. He married Catherine on September 2, 2000 and she preceded him in March 27, 2005. Surviving are his children Jim (Becky) Hicks of Monticello, IL; Jack (Sandra) Hicks of Bement, IL; Jerry (Debi) Hicks of Monticello, IL; Judy (Charlie) Giddings of Monticello, IL; and Jo Ellen Funk of Monticello, IL. 11 grandchildren,26 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. 1 brother Oscar Hicks of Kingmen, AZ. 1 sister in law Weona Hicks along with several nieces and nephews. James was preceded by his parents, both wife's, and 3 brothers. James was retired from Heath's implement dealer where he was a machinery assembler. James was a member of the lions and of the Moose of Decatur. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
