Irene Anderson

Irene Anderson, 100, went to be with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Saviour, at 8:50 AM, Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Piatt County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Wesley Cornwell officiating with Brother Bob Lane assisting. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in DeLand Cemetery, in Deland, IL. Irene was born February 10, 1910 in Beecher City, Illinois the daughter of Levi and Sarah Ellen (Barr) Grubaugh. She married Thomas M. Anderson on December 4, 1926 in Monticello, Illinois. Preceding her in death were father and mother, her husband Tom who went to be with the Lord in 1956, a granddaughter Karen (Jones) Cooper, and a 3-year-grandson Thomas W. (Tommy) Smith. Surviving are two sons, L. Dale Anderson of Lodge, Illinois, and T. Ray Anderson of McLeansboro, Illinois; three daughters, Bernice Jones of Farmer City, Illinois, Bonnie Anderson of White Heath, Illinois, and Linda Smith of White Heath, Illinois. A sister Vera K. Grubaugh of Mahomet, Illinois. Irene leaves 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren. Irene and Tom raised 5 children during the great depression on a farm where they grew up. Irene worked at Kirby hospital as cook for several years. Irene was a born again Christian. Memorials may be made to The Piatt County Animal Shelter or the Piatt County Services For Seniors, or Faith In Action.
