Herbert Grindley, Jr.

Herbert E. Grindley, Jr., 89, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023, at home. Jr. was Born September 17, 1933, in Mahomet, Illinois to Herbert E. Grindley and Alameda Fern (Baker) Grindley.  He lived his whole life in Mahomet, both in town and 3 miles East on Rt 150.  He had 3 children with his wife of 72 years, Wanda (Specht) Grindley.

He is survived by his children, Kathy (David) Green, Vickey Roldolph, and Herbert D. Grindley (Julie Quivey, OD), 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  Junior was the youngest of 11 children -brothers Pearl 'Skinny', Howard 'Mick', Mike, Charlie, and Harry-all deceased and sisters-Lela, Lucy, Betty, Caroline, and Peggy-all deceased.

He was a long-time member of Carpenters Local #44 and retired from the U of I Mill Department in 2000.

Junior had many hobbies over the years, including raising rabbits, exotic birds, show ponies and horses, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family.

The family would like to thank Cornbelt Fire Department for their help over the years.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
