Henrietta Vaughn Obituary

Henrietta "Tat" Vaughn went to be with her Lord October 20, 2010 from Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello, IL.
Tat was born August 20, 1923 in DeLand, IL, the daughter of George Nicholas and Cora Blanche Meyer. She lived most of her life in White Heath, IL, growing up with six brothers and sisters. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death.
In 1939 after seeing Ecus Vaughn husking corn in a news reel at the theatre she declared to her friend "I'm going to marry that man". In 1940, Tat and Ecus were married and have remained so for 70 plus years.
She leaves behind four children; Sharon (Ray) Cunningham, Bloomington, Bill (Cheryl) Vaughn, White Heath, Mark (Mary) Vaughn, Flossmoor, Kim (Keith) Pforr, Champaign, and two special nephews George (Sheri) Peterson, Champaign, and Michael (Jan) Peterson, Florida. Daughter Kay Dianne Nolan is deceased.
There are 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter, and a great grandson.
Throughout her life, Tat was a very giving person, not only to her large family, but to her church and community.
For many years she provided meals, gave perms and haircuts, rides to the doctor to those who needed her care and often led music at the White Heath Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday school and bible school.
Tat enjoyed cooking, running the White Heath Cafe for number of years and her family often remarked about how in the middle of making dinner, she would say "Let's have a pie". It would be ready for dessert later.
In addition to cooking, Tat enjoyed her home, working in her garden and flowers, crocheting, bowling, playing the piano, and singing. Most of all she loved her family. She was greatly loved back.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday October 25, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Dalene Kuebler officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in Ingram Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the White Heath Methodist Church or the Piatt County Nursing Home Halcyon Unit.
