Helen Ruth (Pierson) Mitchell, 88 of Monticello, died at 5:20 A.M., Thursday (March 6, 2008) at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Graveside service will be at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Monticello Township Cemetery with Rev. Shelly Forrest officiating. There will be no visitation. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello, is handling the arrangements.
Helen was born April 6, 1919 in Monticello Township, a daughter of James Lee and Etna (Dickerson) Pierson. She married C. Glenn Mitchell on October 24, 1939 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1990.
Surviving are her sons, Art (Carolyn) Mitchell and Mike (Nanci) Mitchell both of Monticello; four grandchildren and a great grandson.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.
Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker and formerly worked at Viobin Corporation in Monticello.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monticello.
Memorials may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Piatt County Nursing Home, United Methodist Church of Monticello or Monticello Lions Club.
