Helen Mitchell Obituary
Helen R. Mitchell, age 93, of Monticello, passed away at 4:50 PM, Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Piatt County Nursing Home.
Graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Monticello Township Cemetery with Rev. Jim Dalrymple officiating. No visitation. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Helen was born October 26, 1914 in Monticello the daughter of John and Nellie (Shaffer) Brady. She married Ross Mitchell on September 4, 1938 in Paxton. He passed away on July 24, 1982.
She is survived by a son: John Mitchell of Savoy, a daughter: Jane Mitchell Klaproth of Champaign, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents and husband.
Helen worked in the family grocery store, Mitchells Grocery. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello, VFW Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors, Kirby Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered at the Piatt County Nursing Home and the Steppe-In. Helen enjoyed her friends, organizations, traveling, and working in her garden.
Memorials may be made to Piatt County Nursing Home Halcyon Unit.
