Gerald Roberts Obituary
Gerald W. Roberts, 84 of Monticello, passed away at 10:05 P.M. Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Piatt County Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Monticello Township Cemetery with Rev. Greg Courtright officiating. Mackey-Wright is handling the arrangements.
Gerald was born October 2, 1927, the son of John and Rebecca (Hunsley) Roberts. Gerald is survived by a sister; Ina Mae (Carl) Wilkins of Florida, brothers; Leonard (Verna) Roberts of Florida and Jerry (Joy) Roberts of Wisconsin. Gerald is also survived by sister-in-law; Ruth Roberts of Monticello and brother-in-law; Jim Cavanaugh of Monticello. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, a sister (Helen Cavanaugh) and a brother (Burtisdale Roberts).
When Gerald lived on the farm he was up early to help with milking the cows. He helped with the farming and bailing of the hay. He loved to go get tools that his brothers needed when they were fixing equipment on the farm. He was always willing to help with whatever needed to be done. Gerald had a love for animals; he had a horse and a dog that he loved very much. The other things that he enjoyed were to fish and play bingo. Gerald will be missed by his family and friends.
