George Little

George Little, 95, formerly of Urbana, died on Sunday evening (April 2, 2023), at Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, surrounded by his family.

There will be a visitation on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 11-12 pm at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St, Champaign. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Smithey officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Military rites will be accorded.

George was born on May 6, 1927 in Tolono, a son of Rolland and Addie (Bickel) Little. He was married to Carolyn, until her death in 1996. He later married Della Hanners. She survives and resides in Shelbyville.

Other survivors include 3 sons, Mark (Joyce) of Paxton, Mike (Gladene) of Bayard, NE and Monte of Urbana; step-children, Terry Wood of Findley and Christy Shures-Ohlsson of Madison, WI; 2 grandchildren, Justin (Carla) and Kody (Shannon), 2 step-grandchildren, Josh and Jill Longfellow-Little; 4 great grandchildren, Jayden, Alayna, Journey and Freya and a former daughter-in-law, Joyce Pitts-Little.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn; an infant daughter, Mary Kay; 1 grandson, Trent; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

George honorably served in the US Army from 1944-1946. In his professional life, he owned and operated Imperial Painting and G and C Delivery (with his wife, Carolyn). George had a strong faith and was proud to have worked as a missionary with Native American tribes in the Badlands. His family will always smile when they remember Christmas traditions, his barbecue and the bird clock.
