Forrest W. Sites

Forrest Corkey W. Sites resident of Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello passed away January 4, 2011. He was born June 2, 1928 in Decatur the son of Wilbur and Myrtle (Smith) Sites. He was raised and lived in Cerro Gordo until 1999 when he and his wife moved to Monticello.
He married Irene Jones on October 15, 1989. She preceded him in death August 8, 2001.
Forrest was a former member of The Brethren Church in Cerro Gordo. After moving to Monticello he joined the First Christian Church and also attended Open Hearts Foursquare Church. He was a member of the Lions Club. He retired from Normans Laundry in Decatur. He was an avid Illini and Cardinals fan.
He loved people and was well loved by his family and friends. He often said dont judge a book by its cover meaning look on the inside, not on handicaps he or anyone else might have.
He is survived by his cousin; Helen McDonald of Cerro Gordo who was raised as his sister, his niece; Ellen (David) Stogsdill of Monticello, great nephew; Michael Stogsdill and his daughter Tiffany of Oakley, and great niece; Tammie (Brian) Ennis and their children Aaron, Nathan, and Miranda of Clinton.
He is also survived by his step sons; Wilbur (Stacy) Jones of Clinton and Randy (Cheryl) Jones of De Land, step daughters; Bonnie (Steve) Bayes of Monticello and Margaret Day of East Peoria, 8 step grandchildren; Jason (Yume) Jones of Mahomet, Suzie Sommers of Monticello, Cheryl Jones of Assumption, Jarad, Brielle and Mikayla Jones of De Land, Dacia (Michael) Stemle of Mahomet, Rachel and Daniel Bayes of Monticello and 5 step great grandchildren; Destiny, Wyatt, Michael III, Maddie, and Arisu.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM and the funeral will be Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:30 AM both at the Open Hearts Foursquare Church, I-72/Bridge St., Monticello with Pastors David Stogsdill and Jim Dalrymple officiating. Interment will be in Cerro Gordo Township Cemetery. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home, First Christian Church of Monticello, or Open Hearts Foursquare Church.
The family would especially like to thank all the staff of the Piatt County Nursing Home for the wonderful care he received. He loved his home there and all of the friends he met. He often said, I am right where I need to be, I just love it here, Im Home. He especially loved his spot at the crossroads of the hallways!
