Forrest J. Red Davis, age 87, of Decatur, passed away Monday, June 11, 2007, at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello with Rev. Jim Dalrymple officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
Mr. Davis was born January 3, 1920 in Monticello, the son of Forrest E. and Hazel (Parks) Davis. He married Helen Elizabeth Rainwater on June 18, 1939 in Monticello.
She survives.
Also surviving are his sons: George (Barb) Davis of Cowden and Donald (Kathy) Davis of Decatur, daughters: Annabelle (Lyle) Hutchens of Salem, MO, Sharon (Ron) Dillman of Urbana, Virginia (Bob) Robison of Pawnee, and Joyce (Keith) Smittkamp of Decatur, 20 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, sister: Mary Ann Rodgers of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mr. Davis was a retired farmer and worked in construction. He was a member of the CCC Camp and was in the 3665th company in Independence, WI.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Decatur Memorial Hospice Care or American Cancer Society.
