Evelyn H. Conn

Evelyn H. Conn, 89, of Savoy, passed away September 23, 2011, at 5:10 A.M. at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello. There will be no visitation or funeral. A private graveside will be held at a later date with Pastor Mark A. Elliott officiating.
Evelyn was born in Tolono, Illinois the daughter of Albert and Ida (Kamradt) Cekander on November 20, 1921. She married Gene Conn on June 17, 1942. He survives. She is survived by twin daughters; Sharon (Al) Koeberlein, and Sheila (Denny) Lincicome both of Monticello, three grandchildren; Stacy, Chad, and Melissa, and three great grandchildren; Lauren, Olivia and Moxie. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers (Alfred, Roy, and Howard), and 1 sister (Irma). She is survived by 1 brother; Duane (Betty) Cekander of Champaign.
Evelyn and her husband wintered in Estero after their retirement for many years. She worked at the Urbana Courier before it closed as a PBX operator. Her husband worked for Standard Oil. She won the News-Gazette Bowling tournament and participated in many Horse Shoe competitions winning all that she entered. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She was member of St. John Lutheran Church in Champaign.
