Esther L Lindsey

Esther L. Lindsey, 96, died peacefully at 10:15am on July 23, 2024 at her home in Champaign.

There will be a visitation from 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday July 28 at Blair-Owens Funeral Home (102 E. Dunbar) in Mahomet.  The funeral service will be at 11:00am Monday July 29 at New Beginnings Lutheran Church (304 E. Dunbar) in Mahomet, with Pastor Josh Hansen officiating.  Immediately following the service, please join Esther's family for a luncheon hosted by her church family.  Burial will be after lunch at 2:30pm at St. Johns Cemetery in Royal, IL

Esther was born on October 20, 1927 in Royal, IL, the youngest child of Fred and Carrie (Meier) Grussing.  She married Ernest P. Bluhm in June 1947.  He died in 1967.  She later married Louis F. Lindsey in 1974 and he died in 1992.  

Survivors include: 3 children; Leroy, Carol (Ron) Rothrock and Kathleen (Daniel) Aguirre; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  

She was the youngest of 6 children and was preceded in death by brothers, Heye, Raymond and Francis and sisters, Delores and Rosalyn.  

She is preceded in death by two husbands, three brothers, two sisters. Also one son Paul died in 2020.  

Esther enjoyed working on the family farm her entire adult life.  She farmed with her husband, Ernest and was always active in the farming community, while raising 4 children.  She later worked for the U of I Building Services Dept. Even late in life, she continued to enjoy yardwork and her grandchildren.   

Esther was an active member of New Beginnings Lutheran Church in Mahomet.
