Elsie Mae Essington

Elsie Mae Essington, 89, of Monticello, died at 9:23 AM, June 4, 2010 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Schreffler Funeral Home 161 West Myrtle in Herscher, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Schreffler Funeral Home. Interment will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens, Kankakee, IL.
Elsie Mae was born August 11, 1920 in Cayuga, IL the daughter of Fred and Margaret (Luken) Dohleman. She married Clarence S. Essington on February 25, 1939 in Forrest. He died April 5, 2006.
Survivors include her children; Sharon Ann (Gene) Colthurst of Danvers, IL, Wanda Lou (Dennis) Owen of Lafayette, IN, Dawn Lynn (Jeff) Brayfield of Anchorage, AK, Roger Dean (Ann) Essington of Normal, IL, and James Edwin (Mary) Essington of Huntington Beach, CA, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and brother; George Dohleman of Fisher, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 daughter, 1 sister, and 1 brother.
Elsie Mae was a housewife, formerly working as a clerk for Hornsbys and a custodian for Herscher High School. Elsie Mae was an avid bridge player. She also enjoyed camping, gardening, crocheting, cats and spending time with her family.
Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home or the Bement Health Care Center.
