Ellie Haney, 96, passed away December 8th, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
She was born 6/9/1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar and Elsie (Hedstrom) Edblad. She had three brothers, Roy, Melvin, and Earl Edblad. She married Stanley Clifford Haney on October 23, 1949. He preceded her in death in 2014. They were married for 64 years.
They had 5 children, Bruce Haney, Cheryl Weisbrodt (Michael Orsini), Kimberly Sims (Jim Evans), Alison Abeln (Chuck), Noel Haney. She has 4 grandchildren, Heather Sims (Kent Myers), Jacob Abeln, Kyle Weisbordt (Katey), Danielle Sanchez (Ruben) and 7 great grandchildren, Paul Danley, Hannah Myers, (Sadie, Elena, Lucas Sanchez), Lilly and Braden Weisbrodt.
She was preceded in death also by her parents, both sons, and her brothers.
She worked outside the home early in their marriage but once children started to arrive, she was an at home dedicated mother. Ellie was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Fighting Illini fan. She was so excited to see her Cubs win the World Series in 2016.
There will be a Visitation at 11:00am on Monday December 15 at Owens Funeral Home (101 N. Elm St.) in Champaign. The Funeral Service will follow at 12:00. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens Champaign. Pastor Eric Friedmann will officiate.
