Edith M. Poling

Edith M. Edie Poling, 80, of Monticello, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, September 2, 2011, at her home.
A reception for friends and family will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Crossroads Church, Monticello. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will follow at 11:00 AM at the Crossroads Church with Rev. Michael Heiniger officiating. Private family graveside services will be held in the Monticello Township Cemetery. .
Edie was born February 24, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Adrien (Pratt) Baker. She grew up in Ohio, graduating from Randolph High School. She met Philip W. Poling and they married on August 20, 1949.
Surviving are her children; Deb Anderson of Monticello, Marc (Dawn) Poling of Monticello, Linda Poling Mansfield of Monticello, David (Sharon) Poling of Grand Junction, CO, and Cristin McMullen of Monticello, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother; Cliff Baker of Germantown, OH, sister; Ruby (Jim) Wentz of New Carlisle, OH and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Richard and Walter Baker), one sister (Ethel Baker Huff), and a grandson (Jeremiah Kerr).
Edie was a homemaker, retired as an officer of the Effingham State Bank after 22 years, and was Site Supervisor with the Peace Meals Program in Monticello for 8 years. She was a member of CURBS of Monticello, International Association of Turtles, Inc. of Effingham, and the Republican Party. Edie enjoyed traveling, flower gardening and completed the Dale Carnegie Course in Effingham receiving the Highest Achievement Award. Edie was most proud of her family and cherished her friends of Monticello and her treasured friends of Effingham.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leighs Disease Foundation, in memory of her grandson Jeremiah Kerr, or an organization of the Donors Choice.
