Dorothy Irene Gregory

Dorothy Irene Gregory, 77 of Deland, passed away at 1:10 A.M. Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Greg Swango officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Hammond Cemetery. Dorothy was born February 2, 1931 in Hammond, Illinois the daughter of Troy and Florence (Fulk) Patrick. She married Lawrence W. Gregory on July 17, 1955 in Hammond, Illinois. Surviving are her husband Lawrence W. Gregory Jr. of Deland, daughters: Gayle (Alan) Brokaw of Pittsfield, IL; Sandra (Eric) Dawson of OFallon, IL; and sons: Gordon Gregory of Decatur, IL; and Curtis Gregory of Deland, IL. Six grandchildren: Amy Brokaw, Gregory Brokaw, Patrick Brokaw, Paige Brokaw, Miranda Dawson, and Mitchell Dawson. Dorothy was preceded by her parents, three brothers Loran Patrick, John Patrick, and Vernon Dean Patrick, and one daughter-in-law Susan Gregory. Dorothy loved her family and friends. She enjoyed working with farmers in the community for 33 years as the bookkeeper at Deland Farmers Coop Grain. She lived her faith out in her involvement with her church, Faith in Action, Home Extension, Deland Womens Club, and as board member of the Piatt County Nursing Home Foundation. Memorials may be given to Faith in Action or American Cancer Society.
