Doris Ryder Obituary
Doris Marie Ryder, age 72, of Monticello, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Champaign.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello with Rev. Steve Ingram officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
Doris was born January 27, 1935 in Chicago the daughter of Frank and Edna (Hanson) Svestka. She was adopted at an early age by Ray and Gladys Shaffer. She married Howard A. Ryder on September 9, 1956 in Decatur. He preceded her in death.
Surviving is her children: John (Beverly) Ryder, Kathy (Kevin) Patrick and Debbie (Mike) Jamison all of Monticello, sisters: Lucille Headrick of Belvidere and Edna Thrasher of Clinton, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, 1 brother and 1 granddaughter.
Doris was retired from the University of Illinois where she did clerical work for McKinley Hospital. She was a member of the Monticello Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed collecting.
Memorials may be made to an organization of the donors choice.
