Dixon Stephens Obituary
G. Dixon Stephens, age 69 of Monticello, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the Bement Health Care Center in Bement.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 2, 2007 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, April 1, 2007 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
Mr. Stephens was born January 29 1938 in Mowequa, the son of Gayl and Georgiana (Peyton) Stephens. He married Nancy Bryson on June 20, 1959 in Shelbyville.
Surviving is his wife: Nancy Stephens of Monticello, son: Chris Stephens of Monticello, daughters: Kelli Mante of Tuscola and Sarah Higar of Mt. Zion, 6 Grandchildren; Aimee & Riley Noonan, Kourtni & Kierstyn Stephens, and Jaycie & Brennan Higar.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Brother and 1 Sister.
Mr. Stephens was in the grain business for 50 years. He worked for Tabor & Co. and then ADM becoming a Corporate Vice President in the Grain Division. He was currently employed as a grain merchandiser for Clarkson Grain Co. and also worked for Consolidated Grain & Barge Co. in St. Louis. Mr. Stephens served on the Board of the Illinois Grain & Feed Association for several years and was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
