Dennis M. Dighton, 53, formerly of Monticello, died Monday, March 26, 2007, at his home in Eureka, IL.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the St. Philomena Catholic Church, 1301 N. Market St., Monticello, IL, with Fr. Pat DeMuelemeester officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Monticello Township Cemetery.

Mr. Dighton was born June 27, 1953, in Monticello, IL, the son of Mary and Henry Dighton.
Surviving are his sister, Catherine Bucknam, of Arlington, VA; his brothers Christopher Dighton of Monticello, IL, Brian Dighton of Arlington, VA, and Daniel Dighton of Chicago, IL; his niece Desiree Dighton of Carbondale, IL; and his nephew Jonathan Dighton of Monticello, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry, his mother, Mary, and his brother, Jeffrey.
Mr. Dighton was a graduate of Monticello High School and Eureka College. He was the head mens basketball coach at Eureka College from 1994 to 2000, and the assistant mens basketball coach at Eureka College from 1985 to 1994. He earned his masters degree in physical education from Illinois State University in 1990. He also served as an assistant basketball coach and track coach at Eureka High School.
Prior to his career in Eureka, Mr. Dighton was a teacher and coach at St. Patricks Grade School, Danville, IL; Brussels Grade School, Brussels, IL; St. Marys School, Brussels, IL; and Brussels High School, Brussels, IL.
