Della Irene Lubbers, 99, of Monticello, passed away at 3:50 AM on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello with Rev. Michael Eischen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
Della was born February 18, 1910 in Forbus, TN the daughter of Charles and Eliza (West) Thompson. She married Frank Eike Lubbers on February 18, 1930 in Decatur. He passed away on February 14, 1990.
Surviving are her children; Beverly Irene (Ralph) Liddle of Normal, Frank Eike (Patricia) Lubbers, Jr. of Monticello, Shirley Ann (Marvin) Bowman of Carefree, AZ, Carolyn June (Alan) Miner of Green Valley, AZ, and Marilyn Jean (Roger) Lilly of Grass Valley, CA, brother; William (Dorothy) Thompson of Aurora, CO, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers (Delmar, Ray, Noble, Charles, and Robert), 5 sisters (Nellie Lindbloom, Golda Howland, Wilma Halfpenny, Nova Tilford, and Alice Richardson) and 1 grandson (Matt).
Della was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, Prairie Chapel Club, Piatt County Home Extension, Carefree Club, Garden Club, Kirby Hospital Auxiliary, Farm Bureau, Monticello Womans Club and was a 4H leader. Della enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, crocheting, knitting, gardening, traveling, and camping.
Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home or Decatur Memorial Hospice.
