Deborah Anne Wagner, 73 of Champaign, Passed on May 16, 2026, at Carle Hospital, Urbana, after a lengthy illness.
Debby was born on May 10, 1953, first daughter of Clarence and Eileen (Hettinger) Painter. She attended Unity High School. Debby retired as anaccountant for Champaign County Highway Department after over 30 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Debby was a devout Catholic and was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, serving as usher and very active in the Catholic Daughters of America. She was an incredibly generous person and shared her time and talents with so many people and organizations. Debby was an avid baker who made hundreds of cookies and many pounds of candies every Christmas season. She was a member of the Corvette Club of Illinois, a member of the National Council of Corvette Clubs, and a lifetime member of the National Corvette Museum.
Debby is survived by her husband Barry, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage on October 25, 2025. Also surviving is daughter Bernadette (Alec) Linde of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter Lilyann; sisters, Kathy Painter, Carolyn Mahaffey, Jane Guillory, and brother Mark Painter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 21 at 10:00 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Champaign. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Philo. Visitation will be private.
