Deanna Wagers Obituary

Deanna Wagers, age 82, passed away on April 4, 2023.

Deanna Rose Satterfeal was born to George E and Doris E LeVeck Satterfeal on June 7th, 1940 in Farmer City, IL. She lost her parents at a young age and was raised by her sister and brother-in-law Dorothy “Dot” and Harry Grindley in Mahomet, IL.

She married Duane C Wagers on October 11, 1957 in Champaign, IL and raised their family in Mahomet.

In addition to raising her seven children, she worked at Capitol Records and Uncle John's Pancake House. She ran a daycare in her home before becoming the biscuit baker at Mahomet Hardee's. She was loved by the many customers she served and cooked for in the deli at the Mahomet IGA where she retired in 2019 at the age of 78.  She enjoyed sewing, socializing with her pinochle group, taking trips to casinos, and watching hummingbirds from her porch. She was also an avid Country Music and Chicago Cubs fan.

Deanna’s most noteworthy legacy is the example she set on the importance of kindness, love, and gratefulness, and the value of family that she instilled in her children. She was the happiest when her family was together, and when her house was decorated for Christmas. Her banana and pumpkin breads were always favorites at family gatherings. Her house was covered in pictures of her grandkids. Many cherished memories were created while playing games and doing puzzles around her dining room table with family and friends.

She is survived by her children: Bill (Lee) Wagers of Mahomet, George (Sue) Wagers of Newport, MI, Geri (Mike) Mathews of Bethalto, IL, Patti (Dan) Sheahan of Macomb, IL, Cindy (Nick) Coyle of Bloomington, IL, Trent Wagers of Mahomet, and Brad (Tami) Wagers of Mt. Zion, IL; her grandchildren: Katie (Ryan) Palmer, Betsy (Keller) Hopkins, Nick Wagers, Megan Wagers, Sara (Mickey) Keating, Alex Wagers, Ashley (John) Webb,  Amy Mathews, Adam (Keri) Mathews, Nathan (Lexi) Sheahan, Matt Sheahan, Luke (Ashley) Sheahan, Jonathon (Jacky) Coyle, Jordyn Coyle, Chase Wagers, Griffin Wagers and Brody Wagers; 14 great grandchildren, her sister Gayle Loy; sisters-in-law Joyce (Bill) Sperling and Rose Moen; brother-in-law Max (Gail) Wagers; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers: Les (Fern), Allen (Donna) and Delmar (Barbara) Satterfeal; sisters: Millie (Charlie) Grindley, Dot (Harry) Grindley, Margaret (Dick) Anderson, Edna Martin and Linda (Bob) Dale; father and mother-in-law George and Ruth Wagers; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ted Loy, Doris (Ben) Heath, Howard (Lynn) Wagers, Raymond (Ginger) Wagers and Ken Moen.
