D. Bensyl Obituary
D. Wade Bensyl, age 85, of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Kirby Hospital in Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. L.K. Braunig officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 11:00 AM. with Masonic services at 10:45 AM. Interment will be held in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
Mr. Bensyl was born May 13, 1922 in Monticello, the son of Donald L. and Bessie (Vance) Bensyl. He married Waneta M. Glenn on October 9, 1945 in Morganfield, KY.
She survives.
Also surviving are his son: John (Betty) Bensyl of Penfield, daughter-in-law: Janice Bensyl of Monticello, grandson: Rodney (Christina) Bensyl of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son (Virgil Lee Bensyl) and 1 sister (Wanda L. Brown)
Mr. Bensyl was a retired Deputy Sheriff for the Piatt County Sheriffs Department. He was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge #58 AF&AM, ANSAR Shrine of Springfield, Danville Consistory, Decatur Shrine Club, charter member and past president of the Piatt County Lodge #87 Fraternal Order of Police Association, Illinois Police Association, American Police Hall of Fame, AARP, Loyal Order of Moose, and Monticello Golf Club.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital.
