Clara Jennings

Clara Belle Jennings, 93, of Urbana died on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, Dec 7 from 1-2pm at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St, Champaign. The funeral service will begin at 2pm at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, Urbana.

Clara was born on Jan 22, 1929 in Champaign, 1 of the 12 children born to John Sylvester and Ruth (Beightler) Oliger. She married Virgil Jennings on Sept 17, 1948 at the Oliger family home in Champaign. Together they celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage; full of traveling, laughter and most importantly, love. Her hobbies included ceramics, crocheting, camping, fishing and golf cart rides. She also made many memories at a favorite family location, Camp Deer in MN. Clara was never happier than when she was sitting next to Virgil in the golf cart at the Oliger family cabin, relaxing from her work at Cap and Gown, Colwell and Magnavox.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil on October 23, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her 11 siblings; Lillian, Helen, Betty, Ida, Mary, Johnny, Barbara, Colleen, Sally, Chuck and David.

Her life was full, surrounded by her nieces and nephews of the Oliger and the grandchildren (Gina, Rick, Todd and David). The Oliger family Cabin was dear to her heart.  Extended family enjoyed each other, guitar music, playing cards, jarts, the river, Reunions, and relaxing in the quiet of nature.  Truly, the family cabin was her generation's gift to their extended families.

Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews that loved her and will miss her dearly.
