Catona L. Boughton, 88, of Savoy went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 26, 2021, at Willowbrook Memory Support Residences. A memorial service will take place at Stone Creek Church in Urbana, IL on Friday, June 4th at 9:00 am. Connie will be laid to rest with her husband, James, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
Connie was born on September 23, 1932 in Cave-In-Rock, IL, a daughter of Oscar and Lucy (Tadlock) Finley. She married James Boughton on February 10, 1951. She spent 66 years by his side, until his death in 2017. She is survived by three sons: Bruce (Barbara) of VA, Barry (Patti) of NM, Brian (Lindsay) of Savoy, and one daughter, Kristin (Robert) Chao of TX; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Throughout her life, Connie was well known as a caretaker. From a young age, she took care of her younger brothers, then had children of her own, and finally grandchildren. She spent her days as a wife, a homemaker, a mother and a grandmother. Connie was an avid baker and she cooked most every meal. She had a beautiful singing voice and was part of various church choirs and performed in the occasional recital as a young woman.
Connie was a selfless woman who put everyone else’s needs above her own. She spent her days serving those she loved and she will be missed. We rejoice in knowing that Connie was a follower of Jesus Christ and is singing again in Heaven!
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Willowbrook Memory Support Residences for their love and care for Connie over the past year, especially during the times the family could not be there.
Donations in honor of Connie may be made to The Salvation Army, (www.satruck.org).
