Cathy Chambliss

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Catherine (Cathy) Mary Chambliss, a devoted mother, grandmother (Nanny), and cherished friend, on December 18th, 2024. Cathy passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Cathy was born on January 16th, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised by her mother Marie Chambliss alongside her siblings Michael Chambliss, Linda Fitzgerald, Kindra Chambliss, and the late Donald Chambliss.

Cathy dedicated her life to caring for others, both within her family and through her remarkable 30 year long career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Supervisor at Swann Special Care Center. Cathy was born with a servant's heart and spent her whole life caring for others. Her work at Swann was not just a profession, but a calling. With unmatching compassion and diligence, she brought comfort and dignity to countless patients and loved them as if they were her own family.

At home, Nanny was the heart of her family. Her children and grandchildren remember her unwavering support, warm hugs, and unconditional love. Nanny was the most loving and selfless person who always had our back, no matter what. She was always there when we needed her the most to offer support and love in abundance. In addition to loving her family, Cathy loved the Lord. Nanny had a strong faith and religiously tuned in to watch her favorite pastor, Joel Olsteen, every Sunday morning.  She shared her faith with others whenever she had the chance.

Cathy is survived by her children, Angela Bachman (Shane) of Normal, Terry Seets (Amanda) of Urbana, and Johnny King (Jamie) of Colorado. Cathy was the sweetest Nanny to her grandchildren Peyton, Jaycee, Ty, Scarlett, Vivianne, Trae, Iridessa, Tianna, Anthony, Zendaya, and Tristan. Cathy also leaves behind her beloved dog, Jasmine (Jazzy) who brought her endless joy and snuggles.

We are at peace knowing she is dancing in heaven pain free and we are blessed with having her as our guardian angel watching over us.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, Dec 21 from 12-1pm at Owens Funeral Home, Champaign. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at East Lawn Burial Park, Urbana.
