Carroll Hubble Obituary
Carroll CJ Hubble, age 96, of Monticello, died at 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 22, 2007 at the Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Eischen officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 11:00 AM, Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Monticello United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Zif Township Cemetery in Clay City on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 11:00 AM.
Mr. Hubble was born September 13, 1910 in Zif Township, IL, the second son of James Ward and Minnie May (Bricker) Hubble. He married Lela F. Stanford on August 17, 1939 in Flora, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons: Darrell (Janet) Hubble of LeRoy and Merrill (Dana) Hubble of Pecatonica, five grandchildren: Kim (Fred) Hiort of Stillman Valley, Todd (Rochelle) Hubble of Mahomet, Chad Hubble of Rockford, MI, Keith (Michelle) Hubble of Bartonville, Brad (Kristen) Hubble of LeRoy, and 10 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.
He attended Clay City high school and graduated from Flora, IL high school. He attended SIU in Carbondale, IL and graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS and MS in Math and Science. He taught math and science for three years in Tolono, IL. He was a civilian instructor at Chanute Field in Rantoul, IL from 1941-1947. In 1947, he became that assistant director of housing at the University of Illinois. He retired for the U of I in 1972.
He was a member of the First United Methodist in Champaign and ushered for 25 years. He has been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monticello for the last 35 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a 50 year member. He was a member of Monticello Lions Club.
C.J. was an incredible family man who was very proud of his family. He had a very positive attitude and looked at every day as a great day. He was a very humble man and was loved by everyone who knew him. His smile and wonderful outlook on life will be missed. We have all been enriched by his love and Christian life. C. J. will be deeply missed and kept in our hearts forever.
