Caroline (Weiss) Hamilton

Caroline "Omi" Rose Hamilton died on January 18, 2018 at her home in Champaign.

Caroline was born on April 4, 1932 at home on the family farm in rural Cissna Park, Illinois to Christian and Caroline Weiss. She attended a one room school house until high school, graduating from Cissna Park High School in 1950. She received her Bookkeeping Certificate from Kankakee Community College.

Caroline married Kenneth Hamilton on July 19, 1952. They had one daughter Dianna Oliveira.

She worked at T & D Metal, Hawthorne Lodge Nursing Home and Chicago Steel Tape.  She was very active in the Watseka First United Methodist Church and the 4H Community.  In the early 80's she purchased a small farm near Vienna, Illinois where she raise, chickens, goats, cows, pigs, and boarded horses.  She continued her love of fishing and hunting.  One of her favorite activities was taking her garden produce to the Farmer Market.  She opened a second hand shop in part of her barn.  She enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, sewing and arts and crafts.  She continued to create wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, men's suits, and flower arranging for many years.  Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Caroline was preceded in death by Kenneth, her parents, and her oldest brother Albert Weiss.  She leaves behind her daughter, son-in-law Mark, Grandson Nathan, his wife Sydney, their children Duncan and Brody, Grandson Wally, a brother and his wife Ben and Joan Weiss, and sister-in-law Rosemary Weiss, brother-in-law and his wife Donald and Phyllis Hamilton, sister-in-laws Barbara Clauser and Helen Kallen.  Also many beloved nieces and nephews and their families. 

At Caroline's request there will be no visitation or funeral.  A private grave site ceremony will be held on a later date.
