Carol Brown

Carol Joyce Brown, 94, has transitioned to be with her Heavenly Father, family and friends at 1:35am on March 9, 2023 at Country Health Care in Gifford.

She was born November 17, 1928 to Louis and Marie Gregerson, the 7th of 12 children.  

As a young girl, Carol was employed at Jos. Kuhn & Co. in downtown Champaign.  It was there she met another employee, Stanley A. Brown, whom she married on August 21, 1948 in Champaign and were together 67 years.  He preceded her in death on March 14, 2015.

Survivors include: one son, Daniel A. (Jo) Brown; four grandchildren, Kerri (Ric) Ruggieri, Keith Brown, Annie (Stacey) Roberts and Abby (Shawn) Klitzing; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-greatgrandchild.  Also surviving are 3 brothers, Jim, George and Joe and one sister, Nancy.

She is preceded in death by: one son, Thomas Brown; brothers, Arthur, Bob, Gerold and infant Billy; sisters, Peggy, Jean and Mary Lou.  

Carol worked at the Credit Bureau of Champaign County and later retired from Troy's Uniform in Urbana after 25 years of work.

There will be a visitation from 4:00-6:00pm on Wednesday March 15 at Owens Funeral Home (101 N. Elm St.) in Champaign.  The graveside funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Thursday March 16 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign, with Pastor Dave Ashby officiating.
