Brian Birkey

Brian Lee Birkey, 65, of Danville, IL passed away peacefully ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­on Friday May 10, 2024 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana, IL. 

There will be a visitation on Thursday June 6th  from 10-11 am at the Owens Funeral Home at 101 N Elm St, Champaign. Memorial service will begin at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

Brian was born the son of Floyd and Jean Birkey on July 27, 1958 in Champaign.  He is survived by his sisters Shirley (Roger) Greenup of Brentwood, TN; and Donna K Birkey of Ackworth, IA; and his brother Ron (RaNae) Birkey of Miramar Beach, FL.  He is also survived by his close friend, Mary Talley of Champaign, IL; his nieces Holly (Brian Sampson) Ashford of Ackworth, IA; Kathryn ( Alan Hedgecock) McCoy of Clinton, IN; and Carrie (Baron) Verge of Murfreesboro, TN; and his great nephew, Jakin (Ashlynne) Seabert of Reeds, MO; and his two great nieces; Isabella Ashford of Ackworth, IA; and Chloe Verge of Murfreesboro, TN.   He was preceded in death by his parents.

Brian attended Fisher Grade School and Paxton High School.  After high school he moved to Horseshoe Bend, AR.   Brian was baptized and was a member at the Paxton Methodist Church.  He loved to fish and tell those embellished fish stories of lore.  And he loved being with Mary, friends, & family. 

The family would like to thank all of the personnel at Accolade Healthcare Center in Danville and at OSF Hospital in Danville, Peoria, and Urbana; for their thoughtful and considerate care provided for Brian.
