Bonnie Laughead Obituary

Bonnie Jean (Montcalm) Laughead, 93, of Mahomet, passed away on March 12, 2025 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, from natural causes.

There will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation will be performed and her ashes will be buried with her dear departed husband, Denny L. Laughead at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Mrs. Laughead was born at home in Detroit, MI on September 26, 1931 to Kathryn and Isadore Montcalm. She graduated from MacKenzie High School, Detroit in 1949 and continued on to Paris, IL Hospital’s School of Nursing program. She received her Registered Nurse degree in 1952.

Bonnie was married to the love of her life, Denny L. Laughead on December 23, 1952 at the home of Rev. Grims of Grandview IL, he also officiated the wedding. It was noted in Denny’s memoirs, Bonnie took 7 ½ pairs of shoes on the honeymoon to Teutopolis and Decatur, IL. Denny and Bonnie were married for 63 years.

Mrs. Laughead worked at the former Jarman Hospital as an obstetric staff nurse for Dr. Jones. She also worked at Carle Hospital in Urbana and was loved as the school nurse for Arthur Community Schools, Arthur, IL (1963-1979).

Bonnie is survived by daughters: Rebecca (Glen) Wisdom, Sandra (Thomas, deceased) Hannon and Mary Kay (Glenn) Stech, grandchildren: Jennifer Wisdom (Joshua) Behounek, Mark (Alana) Wisdom, Jessica Bolger (Brett) Sorensen, Patrick (Beth) Bolger, Meaghan Hannon (Derek) Kirby and Patrick Hannon, great-grandchildren: Rosemary and Sawyer Behounek, Elliot and Emery Sorensen, Charlotte, Addison and Lincoln Kirby, and Wesley and Wyatt Bolger.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Denny and all of her siblings: John, Pat, Donna, Mack, Jerry and Kay.

Memorial contributions in Bonnie’s name may be made to Haven of Farmer City Nursing Home, Farmer City IL.
