If you’re looking for Bob Williams, we’d love to tell you that he’s out in the barn cleaning stalls. Regretfully, he has taken his last ride. Bob gently passed with family by his side on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 15th, at the age of 77. Bob was born on August 8th, 1947, in Champaign IL, to Frank and Glendine (Durst) Williams. Soon after graduating Champaign High School, he married his wife of 51 years, Margaret “Marty” (Prestin), and moved to Tolono, where they made their home.
Bob worked as a brick mason, proudly retiring from the BAC Local 8 with over 50 years of service. For many years he served on the Champaign County Fair board. Bob dedicated much of his time and energy to his passion for horsemanship. Bob was a national level rider, competing in, and organizing horse shows throughout his life. He was mentor to a countless number of riders, passing on his knowledge and love of horses and barrel racing.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his sons Chad (Angie) and Jason (Jessi), his grandchildren Chris (Alisha), Brett, Kaila (Christian), Dharma, Hailie, Lane, and Cody, his great-grandchildren Jaden, Chloe, Grayson, and Oakley, his brother-in-law Bruce (Val) Prestin and his nephew Doug (Amber) Prestin.
Should friends desire, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
In accordance with Bob's wishes, he has been cremated. Friends may greet the family on Saturday, January 25 from 10-12 pm at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St, Champaign. The memorial service will begin at 12pm at the funeral home.
