Betty Nelson Obituary
Betty Jane Nelson, age 83 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Carle Foundation Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Ingram officiating. Visitaion will be one hour prior to the service. Internment will be in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
Betty was born April 8, 1924 in Monticello the daughter of Thomas and Laura (Tartar) Martin. She married William L. Nelson on September 20, 1952 in Monticello. He passed away December 18, 1999.
Surviving are her daughters: Connie Robinson and Carolyn Jones both of Decatur; Step-Daughter: Shannon Cope of Monticello; Son: Thomas Morfey of Somerset, KY; Brothers: Thomas Martin of Sadorus and David Martin of Ivesdale; Sisters: Joan Nixon of Bement and Bonnie Woodcock of Somerset, KY; 5 Grandchildren, 1 Step Grandchild and 10 Great Grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband (William) and 1 sister (Maxine Clodfelter).
Betty retired from Sterling Drug in 1985 after 40 years of service. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello. She enjoyed baking, community service and volunteer work.
Memorials may be made to the Little Galilee Christian Assembly RR 2 Box 266 Clinton, IL 61727.
