Bessie Nichols Obituary
Bessie Bess Nichols, 80, of Seymour, passed away at 9:40 AM, on August 14, 2011 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Dalene Kuebler officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Bess was born March 3, 1931, in Monticello, the daughter of Everett and Ina (Trimble) Phillips. She married Rudolph Bus Mark Nichols, Jr. on May 29, 1952 in Champaign. He passed away April 1, 2009.
Surviving are her daughter; Penny Miller of Wapella, her sons; Mark (Jody) Nichols of Wonder Lake and Craig Nichols of Seymour, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brothers; Pete (Rosie) Phillips of Mahomet, Scoby (Melba) Phillips of White Heath, and Roy (Joyce) Phillips of Lake Land, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister (Jo Huffman).
Bess was a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church, an election judge, Past President of the Seymour Legion Auxiliary, President of the Over 50 Club, C.I.A. of Seymour, volunteer at the Salvation Army, and worked for the University of Illinois Athletic Department as a gate worker.
Memorials may be made to Salt & Light 1512 W. Anthony Dr, Champaign, IL 61821.
