Bernice Brighton, 90, of Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of Monticello died December 2, 2010 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.
Bernice was born December 1, 1920 in Mansfield, IL the daughter of Ellis L. and Mary Ann (Anderson) Madden. She married Leland Ellsworth Brighton on October 26, 1940 in Monticello. He died February 9, 2002.
Survivors include her son; Don (Mary) Brighton of St. Louis, MO, and daughter; Connie (John) Orendorff of Phoenix, AZ, 4 grandchildren; Stephanie (Steve) Mount, Christopher (Judi) Orendorff, Eric M. Brighton, and Gregory S. Brighton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister (Dorothy M. Nall), and brother (Harold R. Madden).
Bernice worked for Piatt County Farm Bureau, Country Companies, was a homemaker, and farmed in Monticello and Funk Grove for 42 years before retiring to Bloomington in 1982. She moved to Phoenix in 1998. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, a former member of the United Methodist Church of McLean, United Methodist Church of Heyworth, and Wesley United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church.
