Beatrice Jean Nelson

Beatrice Jean Nelson, age 86 of Monticello passed away at 1:32 A.M. Monday October 12, 2009 at the Bement Health Center. Graveside funeral services will be Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bement Township Cemetery with Rev. Marsha Frederick officiating. Beatrice was born on October 7, 1923 in Ivesdale, Illinois to Calvin and Mary (Keiterling) Strater. Beatrice married Emery Kirby and later divorced Emery and married Ernest Swartz. Ernest passed away January 1, 1991; in 1993 Beatrice married Clifford Nelson. Beatrice is survived by her son Emery Kirby of Mendota, IL; and stepchildren John Barger of Monticello, IL; Lenna Blacker of Monticello, IL.; and Alan Swartz of Monticello, IL; 1 sister Rebecca Wildman of Monticello, IL; 3 brothers William Strater of Albion, IL; Richard Strater of Rantoul, IL; and John Strater of Monticello, IL. 6 grandchildren 10 step grand children; 6 great grand children; and 18 step great grand children; and 1 step great great grand child. Beatrice was preceded by her parents, 1 husband, 1 sister, 6 brothers and 1 step daughter. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given to the Presbyterian Church or the Bement Food Pantry. Beatrice worked Pepsin Manufacturing and Kaiser for many years. She was a member of the Bement Presbyterian Church.
