Anna Lillian Abbott, 96, of Monticello, passed away at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Piatt County Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Parmley officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday April 20, 2009 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Farmer City.
Anna was born September 25, 1912 in Nancy, KY the daughter of Benjamin M. and Malinda (Cook) Thomas. She married Avery Abbott on December 18, 1936 in Somerset, KY.
Surviving is her son: William J. (Tamara) Abbott of Monticello, daughter-in-law: Tonya R. Abbott of Monticello, grandchildren: Tammy Storey, Tina (Mark) Brandon, Troy (Monica) Abbott, Karen (Darren) Ross, Travis (Joy) Fox and Traci (Tony) Kaufman, great grandchildren: Brittany Oakley, Brennan Oakley, Cole Pratt, Peyton Brandon, Braxton Abbott, MaKayla Abbott, Kirbi Eckerty, Austin Eckerty, Tristan Fox, Trevor Fox, and Treyden Fox, sister-in-laws: Helen Thomas of Monticello and Bea Thomas of Farmer City. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son (Tom Abbott), 2 Brothers (Ezra and Jesse Thomas) and 2 sisters (Wilma Davis and Versie Thomas).
Mrs. Abbott was the wife of a farmer. Avery and her farmed in the Mansfield and Bellflower area for 40 years. She loved the farm and for many, many years she drove tractors, corn-pickers, and combines. She also loved her garden and flowers. Her life was centered around her family, especially her 6 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Monticello.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home.
