Anita M. Carroll, 89, of Monticello, formerly of Cisco, passed away at 8:53 AM, on November 25, 2011 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Cisco United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Beedy officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Interment will be in Croninger Cemetery, Cisco.
Anita was born March 9, 1922, in Moweaqua, IL, the daughter of Floyd and Jennie Macie (Robertson) Snyder. She married Kenneth L. Carroll on September 19, 1942 in St. Charles, Missouri while he was serving in the Army during WW II. He passed away June 20, 2004.
Surviving are her sons; Dean (Beverly) Carroll of Cisco and Dan (Barbara) Carroll of Monticello, daughters; Darlene (Joseph) Smith of Winchester, IL, Elaine (Bruce) Rodgers of Champaign, and Krista (Dan) Verr of Villa Park, IL, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother (Keith Snyder).
Anita was a homemaker and spent much of her time farming with her husband in the Cisco area. She was a member of the Cisco United Methodist Church, an active member of the Cisco American Legion Auxiliary Post #1181 and past president of the Legion Auxiliary, Piatt County Farm Bureau, Decatur Elks Club, Cisco South Birthday Club, and was a Willow Branch election judge.
Memorials may be made to the Cisco United Methodist Church, the Cisco American Legion Auxiliary Post #1181, or the Piatt County Nursing Home.
Anita was a devoted mother and she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Anitas interests included music, ballroom dancing; camping and she enjoyed traveling with her husband.
