Alva E. Stafford

Alva E. Stafford, age 87 of Monticello, passed away at 6:55 P.M. December 1, 2008 at the Piatt County Nursing Home. Private family graveside service will be held for Mr. Stafford. Alva was born January 5, 1921 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois the son of Edgar Clyde and Maude (Spencer) Stafford. He married Charlotte Louise (Durbin) on January 9, 1948 in Decatur, Illinois. Surviving are his daughters Pam Baker of Monticello, IL; and Kathy Powers of Shawnee Mission, KS; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Alva was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 2 half sisters. Alva was retired sign electrician. Alva served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. Alva was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, I.B.E.W. Local Union #146, and past member of Monticello Masonic Lodge #58 AF & AM, and Piatt County VFW post #5346. Memorials may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church.
