Ada Sowder, 91, of Decatur, formerly of Monticello, died at 8:30 AM, December 19, 2010 at the Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.
Ada was born October 21, 1919 in Burnetta, KY the daughter of Carl and Lilly (Daws) Scrimager. She married Charles Sowder on January 1, 1938 in Burnetta, KY. He died January 20, 1982.
Survivors include her daughter; Judy Addison (Larry Reeves) of Decatur, grandchildren; Lisa (Mat) Wheatley of Warrensburg and Chris (Michelle) Myers of Morgan City, LA, great-grandchildren; Malyssha Neering, Cheyenne Myers, and Logan Myers, great-great grandson; Jax Neering, sister; Mary Ard of Mt. Vernon, brothers; Clifford (Susie) Scrimager of Bement and Denver (Phyllis) Scrimager of Urbana, and special friend to Ada; Jim Maiden. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son (Charles Dale Sowder), 1 great grandson, 1 great-great granddaughter, 4 sisters, and 6 brothers.
Ada worked as a dietician at the Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello and was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Narain Mandhan, Kirby Hospital, and Fair Havens Christian Home.
