Sam was a dear friend, we shared many good days together both in athletics and when he was the housing director and I ran the Illini Union. Most of all I remember his good humor and the great stories he would tell when we were on road trips to Illini football game or sharing a cup of coffee at work. He was a good guy who you looked forward to seeing every day. Rest In Peace dear friend.

To the Rebecca Family - Our hearts and prayers are with you. We did not know Sammy well but through his children and grandchildren, we see that he instilled a love and kindness that is unmatched. We thank Sammy for being the patriarch that he was to his family and send our love to all of you during this difficult time and always.

You'll be missed Sammy. I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to spend time with you and your family over the years. Golfing, great food, tons of laughter and so much more.

Love ya man!

Your self adopted son

Dad.... it's hard to believe you're gone. I sit in my study staring at all the photos I have of you. I am where I am today because of you guiding me in the right direction and always giving powerful advice. You'll be missed but not forgotten and with you in me I'll be successful moving forward. Rest my grand Father. I love you.
