Rosemary M. Nolan, 88, died on Thursday, May 11 at 1:00 pm at Champaign Rehabilitation Center.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 21, from 1-2 pm at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St, Champaign. A private burial will take place at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery, Champaign.
Rose was born on September 11, 1930 in Chicago to William and Margaret (Bergin) Devine. She married James Nolan in Chicago on June 5, 1954 and together they raised their 6 children. James preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2003.
She is survived by her children, Michael and Barb Nolan, Patrick Nolan, Kathleen Henry, Colleen Nolan-Grob, Mary and Dave Rosen and Moira Nolan; grandchildren, Linda and Dan, Erin, David, Maureen, Ross and Maggie; and 1 great grandchild, Liana.
Rose was educated as a nurse practitioner and worked at Christie Clinic for most of her career. She was also a nursing instructor, a Lamaze teacher and a Girl Scout leader. She had a love for travel, especially to gardens where she could photograph flowers. She was an avid sewer and collector of lovely fabrics. Rose was also a movie fan; she would watch movies from Disney animated classics to Star Trek.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WILL Radio and TV or to the charity of the donor's choice.
